Training Your Boxer Dog: Tips and Ideas
The boxer is a unique and amazing dog. They are very playful and full of energy so applying any form of boxer dog training to them can be a challenge. However they are also very loyal to their masters, and when a bond is created between you and your boxer, it lasts forever.
If you want to train your boxer then you should preferably start as early as when your pet is 6 to 12 weeks young. Being a very intelligent animal means that boxers are usually quick to adapt and pick up any training you give them.
Traditionally, boxers have been known as good guard dogs, which is what most people train them to do. Because of the way they look, most people see them as being a naturally aggressive dog. Ironically, nothing could be further from the truth. They are actually inherently playful and a joy to be around. However, if proper boxer training is not given to your pet, then they might just become an aggressive animal.

Stubborn By Nature
You should also keep in mind that boxers can be very stubborn animals. Training your stubborn boxer can be a challenge when you give him a command, and he justs looks at you in the eyes, as if to say I’m not moving not matter what you say. He knows what he is supposed to do, but just can’t be bothered and decides not to. When this happens to you (because trust me it definitely will) the most important thing is to be patient. They will come around eventually. They are more likely to listen to you if you make the training exciting.
Boxer Socialization Training
One major point that you should incorporate into any boxer training is helping them to become social animals. Get them around other dogs and other people. Take them for walks regularly and mingle with the local dog owners.
Testing The Boundaries
Once your boxer gets a little older than 12 weeks, you may start to notice that he will test the boundaries a bit. He may start to nip and bite at you to try and prove that he is in control, and he is the leader of the pack. Your boxer may become even more stubborn at this stage and not listen to your commands. This is where you as the owner, need to show some leadership and let your boxer know that nipping and biting are just unacceptable behavior, and won’t be tolerated at all.
Boxers can be one of the most adorable family pets if they are trained correctly. Train your boxer early with some serious boxer dog training and you will have a loving and loyal member of the family.
